LEAF Engineers undertook a comprehensive project to upgrade the MEP infrastructure at Central Texas College. Our team began with an initial facilities assessment, master plan, and central plant operations analysis to establish a solid foundation for the project.

We provided services for the campus-wide chilled water line replacement, along with the addition of chillers and chilled water pumps. Our work included boiler and heating pump replacements, underground heating main replacement, and central plant modifications with upgraded direct digital controls.

LEAF replaced the electrical distribution system, including service transformers and primary/secondary feeders. Our team extended new overhead lines to a new capacitor bank, removed the existing capacitor bank, and replaced on-site primary overhead and underground conductors. We installed new primary conduits, 12KV transmission lines, and analyzed and replaced existing distribution transformers.

The existing central plant, which served all buildings on campus, was reconfigured to serve its five nearest buildings. For all other buildings, we installed new mechanical yards featuring high-efficiency air-cooled chillers and natural gas boilers.

The project was executed in three phases: Phase 1 was completed in May 2017, Phase 2 in May 2018, and Phase 3 in May 2019. These upgrades have significantly enhanced the campus’s energy efficiency and operational reliability.
